I found this map on http://mappery.com/Census-2000-Data-Top-US-Ancestries-by-County-Map. The title is “Census 2000 Data Top US Ancestries by County Map”. It is from Mappery, a site that posts year 2000 census of top ancestries in the United States. Such populations found on this map are African American, Aleut/ Eskimo, American, Indian, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hispanic/ Spanish, Irish, Italian, Mexican, Norwegian, Puerto Rican, and all others. From the map, many Africans live in southeast of the United States. Right on top of the Africans is the Norwegian. The southwest has many Mexican descendants. Utah, southeast Idaho, southwest Colorado and east Nevada are colored light purple or lavender meaning many English are there. The majority of the United States consists of Germans represented by baby blue. There are very little Dutch and French. This map is interesting because it reveals many clusters meaning that different nationalities are not dispersed but rather stay in one group together. Something interesting about this map is that it does not show ancestries from Asia such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean and so on. Now I really know that Asians immigrated very late in time to the United States.
