This “Slave Trade from Africa to the Americas” map from 1650- 1860 shows sea and ship routes that the Portuguese and Spaniards took to ship slaves. This map also displays what kind of work and resources were where. For example, Tobacco was grown near Richmond, and Recife of South America. There was a lot of coffee made in South America. At this time most slaves were brought from West Africa regions and sent to Brazil to work for mines, coffee, sugar, and tobacco fields. The least amount of slaves were sent to Central America. I did not think that so many slaves were sent to Brazil compared to the east coast of North America. The routes ships took are interesting because of the many curves and splits.
